Shopify booking for tattoo shops
Inkdesk connects to Shopify from Cabinet → Settings → Website & embed → Connect → Shopify. Recommended · App: enter Shop domain and click Add to Shopify when SHOPIFY_* is configured. Alternative · Snippet: Storefront URL → Create snippet, then paste Shopify — floating Book now / inline calculator (window.InkdeskShopify + inkdesk-embed.js) or download the Liquid file. Booking and deposits stay in Inkdesk; Shopify remains merch commerce if you sell those. Inkdesk is $50 per shop per month.
How do I connect Shopify?
Cabinet → Settings → Website & embed → Connect → Shopify. With app install configured: Shop domain → Add to Shopify. Otherwise Alternative · Snippet: Storefront URL → Create snippet (or Liquid file).
Step 1 · Where should clients book?
One platform at a time. Progress: Choose → Configure → Go live.
Same pattern for Wix (Add to Wix). If app install isn’t configured, use Create snippet.
Go live shows Shopify — floating Book now (theme.liquid before </body>), Shopify — inline calculator, and Shopify — aftercare page (themed iframe for Custom Liquid). Booking uses window.InkdeskShopify + /embed/v1/inkdesk-embed.js.
Owners should not paste sk_ server API keys into theme files. Re-copy anytime from Sites → View install code.
Shopify commerce vs Inkdesk appointments
Use Shopify for merch, aftercare products, and gift cards if that is already your stack. Use Inkdesk for artist availability, deposit-backed appointments, waitlist, consent, and the floor day board. Mixing those jobs in one generic Shopify appointment app often forces tattoo shops into workarounds for quote review and forfeit rules.
Deposit money for bookings goes to the shop’s Stripe Connect account through Inkdesk’s deposit intents—not through a Shopify draft order unless you deliberately build that yourself via API.
At $50/shop/month Inkdesk covers the tattoo CRM subscription; Shopify’s own plan fees stay with Shopify.
What clients experience
From a Book page or theme embed, clients select artist and slot, submit contact details, and pay a deposit when the appointment requires it. Complex pieces can wait for artist quote; simple work can move faster to deposit pending.
Reminders and no-show handling run from Inkdesk appointment state, so your merch storefront theme does not need custom reminder apps for tattoo sessions.
iPad check-in and station display remain Inkdesk surfaces for the floor—Shopify POS is optional and separate.
Automation
Outbound webhooks from Inkdesk can feed Zapier or Make when you need Shopify flow side effects (tag a customer, notify Slack) without building a private app. Verify X-Inkdesk-Signature on every delivery.
Developers can also call /api/v1 with OpenAPI at /api/v1/openapi for catalog, availability, bookings, and deposit intents.
FAQ
Is Shopify OAuth required to go live?
No. If SHOPIFY_* is not set, use Alternative · Snippet (Create snippet) or No website → Create hosted link + QR. Add to Shopify is preferred when app credentials are available.
Does Inkdesk replace Shopify Checkout for merch?
No. Merch can stay on Shopify. Inkdesk handles appointment deposits via Stripe Connect.
Where is the theme embed?
Go live shows Shopify — floating Book now and inline calculator. Or download the Liquid file / theme app embed scaffold under plugins/shopify.
